Tour Details

A 7-8-hour hike through forests and beaches, in which visitors will be able to see a great deal of wild animals and a gorgeous landscape throughout the trip to La Sirena Biological Station, where they will spend the night.

We set out from Puerto Jiménez to Carate at 5:30 AM.  Once in Carate, we walk to La Leona (3.5km), where the first guard station is located.  Then, we leave for Sirena, a 16-kilometer walk along the beach across a secondary forest. 30% of the hike is done along the beach and 70% across the secondary forest.

There are two points that must be crossed over at low tide—the first one is located at the beach right in the midst of the tour, and the second one is located in Rio Claro, 30 minutes away from Sirena Station. For this reason, there are times when we have to slow down or pick up the pace, depending on the tide. Your tour guide will set the pace of the walk.

During the dry season, air humidity must be taken into account since it may affect some people that are not used to it. However, this inconvenience is completely manageable.
